UW Researchers Lead Community-Engaged Mountain Biking Research with Laramie Middle School Students
- Two University of Wyoming researchers have spent five years studying how cycling affects students with ADHD and whether mountain biking in gym class gets kids riding outside school.
- Cynthia Hartung is testing high-intensity interval training on executive function in middle and high school students, while Tristan Wallhead studied 272 Laramie Middle School students' motivation to join an after-school biking club.
- The work is funded by Outride, the nonprofit arm of Specialized Bicycle Components, which gave the school a class set of bikes and a curriculum, with local support from Laramie BikeNet.
