9 years and 11 teams later, former Eagle’s MLB dream realized
- Former Florida Gulf Coast University pitcher Peyton Gray, now 31, has reached the major leagues with the Texas Rangers after nine years and 11 teams in three countries.
- Gray was not selected in the 2018 MLB Draft after his senior season at FGCU, but kept pitching in independent and winter leagues while working jobs at UPS, DoorDash and a tree-cutting service.
- FGCU head baseball coach Dave Tollett called Gray's resilience and perseverance the best he has seen, and said his story is a lesson for players in the program.
