Report shows Phoenix is making progress toward 2050 transportation goals
- Phoenix is 10 years into its 35-year Transportation 2050 plan and reports it is meeting or exceeding its targets so far.
- The plan was created in 2015 after voters approved Proposition 104, replacing a 0.4% sales tax with a 0.7% sales tax to pay for transit upgrades.
- A new city report credits the work with extended light rail, 800 new bus-stop shade structures, 174 traffic signals, 393 left-turn arrows and 328 miles of bike lanes.
- Mayor Kate Gallego said the investment gave residents new options, safety upgrades and fewer potholes.
