Buckeye coach earns Cardinals weekly honor
- Buckeye Union High School head football coach David “Puni” Ellis was named the Arizona Cardinals High School Coach of the Week after the Hawks' 28-17 upset of Bradshaw Mountain.
- The Cardinals presented him a plaque and a $1,000 donation to the football program at a ceremony at the school on Oct. 21.
- Ellis credited his players, staff and community, and said the money will help replace aging equipment for a program with about 32 players.
- The win extended Buckeye Union's streak to five games and improved its record to 6-2 with two regular-season games left.
