Arizona business opens doors for employees with criminal records
- An Arizona door manufacturer in Gilbert is deliberately hiring people with criminal records, and more than half of its 110 employees have a history in the criminal justice system.
- Co-founder and CEO Scott Gates said the company wanted to make a difference, not just a profit, and that excluding people with records means missing out on a motivated talent pool.
- Employee Jessica Coz, who spent 15 years incarcerated, said the job gave her stability and a home after re-entry felt impossible.
