D51 students explore health care careers at St. Mary’s Hospital
- Seventy-two District 51 high school students from across the Grand Valley visited St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction for a career day on health care jobs.
- The event showed students roles beyond doctors and nurses, including finance, radiology and nutrition, and gave them hands-on time in the operating room, NICU and vascular center.
- Hospital officials said the goal is to show students they can start health care careers without immediately pursuing a four-year degree, and they plan to make the career day annual.
