City scraps plan to close Senior Center
- Grand Junction City Manager Mike Bennett announced at a City Council meeting on Oct. 21 that the city is cancelling plans to close the Grand Junction Senior Center.
- Bennett said the earlier communication was too abrupt and that he owns the consternation it caused.
- The city had said the closure would save about $100,000 a year, but many seniors argued the savings did not justify losing a long-used gathering place.
