Palisade peaches donated to help orphaned bear cubs
- A late spring freeze and severe drought left Colorado's bears short of the food they need, and more orphaned cubs than usual ended up at the Pauline S. Schneegas Wildlife Foundation in Silt.
- Talbott Farms in Palisade donated roughly 15 tons of peaches and helped the foundation buy apples at cost to feed the more than 30 bears in its care.
- The foundation's founder says the donations were essential to getting the cubs to hibernation weight.
