GJFD reports success on new program, partners with public health
- The Grand Junction Fire Department's community paramedic program, launched in February, pairs clinicians with people who call 911 repeatedly for non-emergency needs.
- One Mesa County resident who called 911 more than 125 times between January 2025 and February 2026 has made zero calls since paramedics connected him with resources.
- The department says the program has already saved it upwards of $300,000, based on a sample of seven of its 50 current patients.
- A new partnership with Mesa County Public Health's Grand Valley Connects adds social work and case management to what paramedics can offer.
