Orchids & Onions: This year’s fragrant or smelly architecture
- The San Diego Architectural Foundation announced its annual Orchids & Onions awards on Oct. 2, honoring a dozen projects with Orchids and naming only one Onion.
- The 50-year-old tradition recognizes thoughtful design and calls out projects that mar the landscape, with this year's winners spanning from Del Mar to Jacumba and into Tijuana.
- The CHAPEL at Liberty Station took an Orchid for Historic Preservation, while the Granger Hotel, Starlite Bar, Kaya, Leparc, Jacumba Hot Springs Hotel and Café Cometa were among the other honorees.
