Burned bobcat rescued from Camp Pendleton fire returns to the wild
- A bobcat rescued with severe burns after the Pipeline Fire at Camp Pendleton has been released back into the wild.
- The adult male spent 65 days at the San Diego Humane Society's Ramona Wildlife Center, where he was treated for first- to third-degree burns on all four paw pads, kidney injury and emaciation.
- He more than doubled his weight, from 7.5 pounds to over 15 pounds, before being returned near where he was found on Sept. 30.
- Officials say the case shows the value of the wildlife rescue partnership between the Humane Society and the base.
