Ramona High’s Unified Spirit Program provides more students with a traditional experience
- Ramona High School has launched a Unified Spirit program that pairs cheerleaders and song team members with students with disabilities so they can take part in pep rallies and football games.
- The program is part of Special Olympics Southern California and started this fall after instructors applied in January and spent months preparing.
- Eight volunteer special needs students were paired with cheer or song members for a 16-person team that performed at home football games and pep rallies.
- Staff and parents say the program has built friendships and given students a traditional high school experience.
