San Diego woman honors her dog and brings people together through art
- Amanda Moschella volunteers at the Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park, where she often visited with her dog, Shilo.
- After Shilo died of kidney disease in June, Moschella created a garden and plaque honoring her, then began repainting tiles around Daniel's Coffee with friends.
- Spanish Village asked her to paint more tiles, and her Instagram invitation drew over 100,000 views and many responses from others processing pet grief, including fellow volunteer Winnie Leung.
- A San Diego psychologist says expressive arts therapy like painting helps people process grief and feel less alone.
