Chula Vista High School finally unveils new stadium
- Chula Vista High School unveiled its new $42 million on-campus stadium last Friday, highlighted by the first varsity football game in the new facility.
- The event included an alumni walk, band and cheer performances, and a tribute to former San Diego Section Commissioner Joe Heinz, a CVHS alumnus who died Sept. 22.
- The stadium replaces dirt patches and uneven terrain with artificial turf, a lighting system, NFL-style goal posts, and a synthetic track.
- The Spartans lost the opener 31-20 to Southwest, though Elijah Richardson scored the first touchdown in the new stadium.
