Adults learn and hone the skills of reading and writing in Oceanside adult literacy program
- Oceanside Public Library's adult literacy program, Oceanside READs, teaches adults reading, writing, speaking and listening, serving about 150 people a year since 1998.
- The program added English as a Second Language in 2021 and offers one-on-one tutoring and community learning sessions at the READs Learning Center.
- Two former students, Maria Vergara and Carmen Cruz Martinez, returned as staff to help others, saying the skills gave them the ability to advocate for their children and pass a job interview.
