Chula Vista’s Harbor Park opens new playground as bayfront expansion moves forward
- The Port of San Diego and Chula Vista opened a nautical-themed playground Wednesday at Harbor Park, the first major piece of a phased expansion that will roughly double the bayfront park's size.
- The expansion grows the recreation area from 12 to about 25 acres, with a splash pad and northern landscaping and pedestrian work planned for 2027.
- It is part of the first phase of the Chula Vista Bayfront redevelopment, which already includes the Gaylord Pacific Resort and Sweetwater Park.
